MEANYC was formed in 1989 by dedicated teachers and administrators as a vehicle to keep music alive in the five boroughs of New York City. Today our membership includes New York City music educators, active and retired, from kindergarten through college, from both public and private schools, music education students from our local colleges and many others who actively support music in the city's schools. A vast reservoir of experience and expertise exists within our membership. We are continually working to promote and improve music education in New York City and we have been involved in many initiatives on both the local and state levels to achieve this goal.

Our executive board meets monthly to discuss the needs of our students, schools and members. Several board meetings are open to the general membership. Please check our calendar for these important meeting.

Our newsletter Crescendo is published three times a year. It contains general information, NYSSMA updates, spotlights on schools, principals, teachers and students as well various events and programs throughout the city. Articles and noteworthy news items are always welcome.
